Your Business is Our Business!

Founded by a young entrepreneur, Ben Payne, Fleurieu Contractors all began in 2012 while leaving the olive industry,  he picked up a contract with Jim’s Mowing. Deciding to leave school early and to focus on his business, Ben spent two years on this mowing round ranging from the Fleurieu Peninsula all the way to Lockelys. By 2014 Ben had decided to move on from Jim’s Mowing, he renamed his business and launched the very beginning of Fleurieu Contractors. Upon signing massive contracts with various businesses like Compass View Egg Farm and Fluerieu Gardening, Fleurieu Contractors also begun our very own mowing round. As our services increased, our first employee was hired.

In 2015 even more contracts flew in, the most significant being, McLaren Vale Motel and Apartments, for the construction of the Vineyard View Function Centre and associated gardens and landscaping. This was also the year that the Information Technology Services was introduced as a service provided by Fleurieu Contractors. By this stage we offered a broad array of services, while still not taking on a specific industry or skill. During 2016, most of these contracts had been completed and therefore the re-entry into the Olive industry started to unfold. Signing a contract with RVH Contracting for pruning services, Fleurieu Contractors reinvented themselves and made a massive step into the Olive Industry. While holding this contract, Fleurieu Contractors sought other contracted work operating machinery for Nasmin PTY LTD.

As 2017 started, contracts with Horti Works, The Australian Olive Company, Pine Hill Ridge Vinyards and Nasmin PTY LTD were signed. This lead Fleurieu Contractors to hire 2 other employees and start positioning ourselves to become the leading force for Specialist Machinery Operators. This was also the year Yundi Olives was launched, leasing groves in Yundi, Yankalilla and Sellicks. Quickly we saw this as an advantage and released our range of Olive OilFrom 2017, Fleurieu Contractors was highly sought after for our expertise and knowledge on grape harvesters, tree shakers, fungicide sprayers and our ability to operate in tight spaces. In 2019 Fleurieu Contractors saw a void in the olive industry and decided to fill it, with the purchase of 2 trucks. These 2 trucks ran during the olive harvest seasons, transporting fruit bins to and from multiple processing facilities. Fleurieu Contractors also purchased 2 tractors to assist growers with their needs during harvest. This expansion saw Fleurieu Contractors starting to move out of the Fleurieu and service an area from the Riverland, Barossa Valley, KI and even into victoria.

Plans for launching Willunga Hill Vineyard had begun when an agreement was reached between the land owner and Fleurieu Contractors. A three acre vineyard in Willunga Hill, was funded and launched. We had planned on releasing our brand in 2021, however a shift in focus from the team, saw the begining of downsizing. In 2021, the team had decided that it would start removing services and support from industries. This decision was not easy, the impact it had on many growers and businesses was unavoidable. However moving forward the team decided to continue in a consultation capacity only. Over the years, we have learnt a lot and gained a vast amount of knowledge that continues to grow to this day.
